Genesis G90 Spied Inside Again, Shows New Details

Today and thanks to our follower visionc_ we noticed a new set of interior pictures were taken showing new details such as the new buttons to open doors as this next generation 2022 Genesis G90 (codenamed as RS4) won’t have it handles. Genesis placed some buttons in the front and rear center console.

What we know so far?

The next-gen G90 was confirmed to be equipped with a ‘level 3’ autonomous driving system consisting of a camera radar and two lidars. We also have known that will keep the 5.0 V8 engine while having air suspension for the first time.

This is the very first time we saw the new luxury sedan from Genesis, but there are a few keys to recognize as a new Genesis vehicle, like the taillights, which still has the two lines, but this is the first time we see the front end, and it has similar headlights as the Genesis bespoke EV model, not sure if this is the new design identity or just provisional lights.

The two radar LiDAR system will allow to implement level 3 autonomous driving based on a control algorithm developed by Hyundai Motor in addition to the existing camera radar sensor.

On the other hand, the next-gen Genesis G90 will be equipped with two radars on both sides of the front of the vehicle to realize a more advanced autonomous driving function, such as interrupting the vehicle in the sideways car while driving. In addition, more precise operation is possible even in cloudy weather, and it can be replaced more naturally in various emergencies.

“Equipped with one radar, the autonomous driving function is focused on the front side, but mounting the radar on the two front sides is advantageous for implementing a more complete level 3, such as detecting a vehicle intrusion.” “Before responding to Level 3 technology, it will be advantageous to secure the advantage of self-driving technology with the G90.”

Hyundai’s hardware (HW) camera, radar, and lidar three groups of sensing devices are integrated into a single algorithm, and various sensor signals generated during driving are combined to secure an independent control algorithm that makes optimal judgment.

The new G90 is expected to be an important opportunity for Hyundai to take the lead in technological advancement in the field of autonomous driving in the future.

IONIQ 6 Prototype Caught in the U.S

Today we want to share with you that the very first prototype of the Hyundai IONIQ 6 has been spotted in the U.S for the first time. Thanks to our colleagues at Motor1.com, we noticed that KindelAuto Youtube Channel spotted Hyundai’s second dedicated EV.

According to the latest information from South Korea, the IONIQ 6 (internal codename CE) is going to be delayed around 3 months from the original time schedule of mass production (March 2022). The reason is Hyundai will improve some internal/external parts of the vehicle that were not to the taste of Mr. Eui-sun Chung.

The external changes are related to the front and rear bumpers, according to the source, the design was changed and now the car is 20mm longer, this design changes will give extra mileage.

Also Hyundai plans to introduce world’s first intelligent lightning grille (we talked about this here). Inside Hyundai will use a bigger battery pack, reaching 77,4 kWh, again looking for additional range.

The IONIQ 6 will also sits on the Electric Global Modular Platform known as E-GMP that offers fast charging and a rich driving range. If the IONIQ 5/Kia EV6 already can drive 550 km, we expect that the IONIQ 6 could arrive to 650 or even 700km of range. (As the wheelbase will be longer, more cells could be added).

The dedicated EV platform will enable Hyundai to reimagine the vehicle interior as a “smart living space”, with unique features such as highly adjustable seats, wireless connectivity and drawers. The platform paradigm shift will be extended to the user interface. The user interface is simple, intuitive and ergonomically designed to help passengers feel comfortable.

So we can’t wait to see more about IONIQ’s sedan proposal, sure with the first prototypes hitting the road soon (if they expected to be launched during next year).
